The New Year of 2020 is in earnest started with low electricity prices on the entire time curve. Mild weather and continued wet precipitation forecasts have given price decreases at the short end of the market of more than 25% the first two weeks of the year. The Q2-20 future contract has thus fallen by 9 EUR/MWh to 24,50 EUR /MWh, while the YR-21 contract is being traded on Tuesday at 32,40 EUR/MWh, slightly higher than last week’s record low price level. Market turnover remains relatively high at the beginning of the year.
